Square One

Can anyone say 2 steps forward and 10 back?? Our battle with colic and reflux can only be described as that. I have my fingers crossed that our new doctor will be able to help us more. So far, so good and my only regret is that we didn't switch doctors sooner.

He has put the girls on tagamet with their formula and nothing else. No mylicon, no gripe water, no colic tabs, no solid food. It hasn't even been 24 hours, so I am saying in an extreme whisper, "so far it is a night and day difference." Last night for the first time in I don't know how long, the girls didn't cry for an hour or two... or three.

I am stupidly optimistic, but I SO hope it works. I have read that if colic continues after 6 months that the cause is probably a reflux disorder. GERD. We already knew that they had this, but we weren't aggressive at treating it until now. I would say the tagamet is pretty aggressive given that it is not approved by the FDA for children under the age of 16... I had to argue with the pharmacist and ended up switching pharmacies all together because they didn't want to give it to me and because they didn't have it in stock because they don't give it to babies and it would have been extremely difficult for the f***ing people to do their job and order it. I digress. Anyway, we finally got a hold of some and we shall see...

I hope this is the magic bullet you've been hoping for. Just wondering: have you tried Pre.va.cid for your girls? This is what finally helped us.
